Meet this month’s personality, also known as Special Guest, who co-hosts the Thirsty Trivia show in Mona Mour’s hiatus, at the Brooklyn honky tonk, Branded Saloon, on Thursday nights, 9pm; as well as serving it up at both In Vino (East Village) and o ya (Park South Hotel).
where did you grow up?
I grew up in Oneonta, New York.
are you a social person?
To say I was a precocious kid would be an understatement.
describe your sense of style
My style has evolved through the years. It’s always included lots of prints, polka dots, and patterns. Living and working in the East Village has influenced me significantly in that walking out of my apartment on Avenue C in full drag fazes no one at 8:30 on a Thursday.
tell me your favorite thing about New York City
I love the micro-communities you develop over the years living here. East Village to Brooklyn to Meatpacking: you create little worlds of friends and familiar faces you can almost always expect to meet for a drink or a laugh. And the bums here are very charismatic. I like that.
what do you do to unwind?
My latest after-work activity/therapy has been meeting my friends at Josie’s and playing a round of Big Buck Hunter. So butch, I know, but it really zens me out.
your cocktail of choice
I’m a seasonal drinker, so summertime means either a Last Word (gin, maraschino, green chartreuse, and lime juice), or a classic daiquiri at Bua on St. Marks.
name the goal you would like to accomplish over the next year
I would really like to see both of my restaurants, In Vino and o ya, do well this because they’re both offering such incredible things to the culinary scene of this town. And maybe go on a date! That would be swell.
