If you are planning to host an Oscars viewing party, then a cocktail for the favorite nominees are on the roster. Here are five suggestions to go with this season’s top picks. It’s easy to choose—just serve the one that’s your absolute favorite, or splurge and serve them all—you can ask each guest to bring a bottle to the party.
A Star is Born. If musicals and romance are your thing, then go with the Gin Fizz inspired by A Star is Born. You can even add an unconventional garnish, in honor of Lady Gaga—perhaps some long sprigs of lavender. (photo at the top of this post)

1.5 oz Benham’s Gin
.75 oz fresh lemon juice
.5 oz simple syrup
1 oz Zonin Prosecco, chilled
lemon twist, for garnish

Fill cocktail shaker with ice; add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds; strain into glass and top with Prosecco. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Roma. For those who relish gorgeous cinematography, and a heart-touching story, Roma will be the number one choice. Channel Mexico with a twist on an old fashioned, with a special añejo tequila from Partida. (photo at the top of this post)

1 dash angostura bitters
1 orange peel

In an old fashioned glass, lightly muddle the agave nectar, bitters and orange peel. Fill with ice and add the tequila. Stir and garnish with a brandied cherry.
Vice. The political tongue-in-cheek movie about Dick Cheney, Vice, goes with a twist on the Miami Vice. Using Diplomatico rum ups the game. The sweetness of this drink is definitely the opposite of the star.

Blend daiquiri concentrate with rum and ice. Blend Piña Colada mix. Pour both blends together in a coup glass.
Black Panther. For ultimate drama in a glass, mix a smoky whisky and cola to allude to the drama of Black Panther.

Take a clean, highball glass and fill with fresh, solid ice cubes. Squeeze in a wedge of orange and drop into the glass. Add Famous Grouse Smoky Black. Top up with cola, stir and serve.
Bohemian Rhapsody. Channel the energy and spirit of rock star Freddie Mercury with a throwback to the 70s, a Harvey Wallbanger.

4 oz fresh orange juice
.5 oz Galliano L’Autentico
orange slice and cherry, for garnish

Pour vodka and orange juice into a collins glass with ice. Layer the Galliano on top by pouring it slowly over the back of a bar spoon. Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.
