As soon as the weather gets warmer New Yorkers are ready to take over the city’s most popular rooftops. After all, the skyline is amazing and why not indulge a cocktail or two while enjoying the sunset? JIMMY, a staple of Downtown Manhattan nightlife, and an iconic rooftop destination located in the ModernHaus Soho hotel, just debuted their Spring menu. From its unobstructed 18th floor perch, complete with an outdoor pool deck we were ready to cheer the new season.
Debuting Spring Cocktail Menu included reimagined Margaritas, Daiquiris, Mojitos and delicious small plates to go along. JIMMY’s delectable new Spring cocktails were inspired by tropical destinations and were created by long-time General Manager Sayora Khamidova.
“I actually made the recipes easy on staff, I would say because, you know, we’re really a high volume place, so something that is enjoyable, easy to make. We are using a lot of fresh juices, like in our spicy Watermelon Margarita. We launched our menu two weeks ago, and it’s been selling like, non stop. I think it’s because we’re actually prepping everything, like making the fresh juice out of the watermelon”.
We of course tested out some items for you! This process of making drinks out of fresh ingredients really adds to the flavors as they always use fresh purees and nothing is store-bought. A lot of staff was involved in the process of coming up with this new menu and in making sure to keep some of their best sellers on the menu. Aperol has been one of the most popular drinks in the past few years, therefore Tropical Summer Spritz, an Aperol Spritz emboldened with passionfruit seemed great for our first taste. It is an interesting combination and it absolutely takes you to a little tropical vacation, well at least for your taste buds.
Blushing Boozy Frosé made of Unites rosé, vodka and lime juice is almost like a tasty frozen dessert you get happy from. Our friends tried Sunset Sipper , a Margarita with tequila, pineapple/lime juice and banana & coconut syrup, Exotic Escape daiquiri meets a Raspberry Mojito with coconut rum, guava and mint and Brigette Bardot. A vodka-based Sour saluting the French icon enlivened with strawberries.
There are also few cocktails that keep on giving season after season. Some of the all time favorites is their Purple Rain cocktail, which has a lychee liquor in it and is gin based. Thai Basil Gin Sling is another best seller made with fresh cucumber juice and basil, made in house and it is very refreshing. It is a little different from typical fruity drinks and a great reason to come back.
Don’t forget to have some snacks if you are drinking! Depending on your drinks there is something for everyone. Vegan Jalapeño Poppers served with vegan ranch are super delicious stuffed with “cheese,” and another great delicious surprise was a spicy tuna toast trio! Tuna toast is served with Calabrian chili, lime pickled cucumber and chives.
