New York has so many great hotels, that even we locals like to frequent. The Edition Hotel NYC is one of them—head over for a game of pool, some nice drinks, or dining in style.
Who to Take: Your friend who loves to mix and mingle or have out-of-town guests stay there
The Clocktower
The Clocktower feels like a edgy throwback to the ’80s NYC restaurant scene. There’s something about the vibe—the myriad of photography covering the walls showing historical figures, rock stars, and other luminaries, or maybe it’s the room with a purple pool table. Hard to believe these rooms were once corporate offices, it seems to be more of a hip playground than a serious restaurant.
When it comes to the food, though, seriousness kicks in with dishes that are inventive and nicely presented without being overly artsy. Think classic, with a British influence. The restaurant offers all-day dining, so whether you are looking for breakfast, a great spot for a business lunch or a lavish dinner you can indulge here. It is situated in the cool and sleek Edition Hotel on 24th across from Madison Square Park.
Lobby Bar
Also at this locale is The Lobby Bar, just off the entrance on 24th, which entices you to come in with its minimalist tone-on-tone decor and high-high ceilings. Grab a couch or table here and start off the night with a well-made cocktail. If you are nature-lover be sure to order The Edition Owl whose price tag of $30 sends $1 to protect wild birds and is served in an oversized copper vessel in the shape of an owl with curly straw. It’s an exotic blend of vodka, spiced rum, cardamom, coconut, lime, almond, and peach, and will hit the spot.
• Different times/days result in different scenes, so if the lounge seems a bit sleepy and you are looking for action, head up to the Clocktower—or vice versa.
