Brown tomatoes create a darker chipotle salsa for a more sultry presence. We chose to plate it with blue corn tortilla chips to continue the serious dark mood. Will make a statement on your party buffet for sure.
This recipe is part of Hobnob’s Halloween menu, which conforms to the orange and black color theme. Tip: Removing the seeds from the tomatoes makes for a chunkier, and less wet salsa, and much nicer to eat.
MAKES ABOUT 2 CUPS
GRAB A NICE SHARP KNIFE…
5 brown tomatoes
1 can of chipotle peppers, chopped, adobo sauce reserved
juice of half lime
2 TB cilantro, chopped finely
To create nice little tomato chunks, cut a slice off the top, then cut in half, scoop out the seeds with a spoon, and flatten. In a bowl, mix in chipotles, lime juice, and cilantro. Depending on how spicy you want it, add adobo sauce incrementally.
