If you tend to the vegetarian end of the spectrum, this is a spot for you. Rouge Tomate highlights vegetables in their most imaginative and flavorful dishes. Natural wines supreme lead the wine list, too.
Who To Take: veggie aficionados or someone who is interested in trying exotic wines from around the globe
I loved Rouge Tomate when it was up on 60th Street and totally looked forward to its re-awakening in Chelsea. Went in for a quick bite and glass of wine, and was so blown away by the Mushroom Tartare, that my friend and I had to get a second order. It came as an artistic mix of mushrooms, fingerling potatoes, roasted garlic, and baby watercress. Just heaven.
The 2010 Fausse Piste Roussanne L’ortolan wine completed the picture of bliss. But I knew any wine chosen by sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier would not disappoint. Can’t wait to head over for a proper dinner.
